Disabled Passenger Boat Gangways Print E-mail

DisabledBoatRamps.jpg

After succesfully trialing our fully portable disability boat gangways Thames Clippers, Londons premier comuter ferry has decided to position at least 1 gangway at all stops.

In September 2006 we were asked to come up with a fully portable ramp design, that can also be used in tidal conditions, The ramp had to be wide enough to load wheelchairs without having a ledge at each end so that there was no need to tip the chair.

Two ramps were trialled at Londons Docklands Pier and used in particular for access to the Excell exhibition centre from the ferry.

Tha ganways offer easy mobility and cater for high tides of + 300 mm and low tides or full passengers, of - 700 mm.

Easily operated by a a single crew member the ramp is raised by a lever opertion at the side.

All aluminium the gangway also includes our everlasting anti slip flooring.

Just perfect to last a lifetime and offer passengers sure footed all weather safety.
