Gangways for Great British Duck Race Print E-mail

duck_race.jpgSome 10,000 people are expected to watch this summers Great British Duck Race on the river Thames.

The organisers hope the  event will smash the amount of Ducks floated on a river at one time.

BAE Systems of Wolverhampton who are sponsoring the event are supplying some Pontoons across a part of the course on the Thames. The Pontoons are used buy the Army to cross water on the battlefield.

One hurdle to overcome was to supply Public access to the Pontoons from the riverbank to the Pontoon as some 40 tonne deployment truck could not access the area without causing conservationists to go up in arms.

The solution is to use our lightweight Aluminium Gangways to span the 6 metres on both sides of the Pontoons making a bridge that some 10,000 people are expected to walk across following the Ducks. These Ganways will be easy to man handle into place after floating them on the river to the Pontoons.
