General Hints On Lifting ![]() ![]() Foot Position
Plan Your Lift - Think about the weight of the object and where its final place will be and make sure that there are no obstructions on the way. Think about your foot position. Always use handling aids if possible such as Sack Trucks or Hydraulic Pallet Trucks. Ra`alloy Ramps are so robust you can run a Grand Piano on a 4 Wheeled Dollie up and down without causing damage to the ramp.
Make sure your posture is correct - Take care when lifting from floor level. Bend the knees without over-flexing and do not kneel.
Make sure you get a good grip - Always try to keep your arms
within the boundry of your arms so that you can keep your grip secure.
If you stretch your arms forward make sure that your grip is secure and
your posture is correct.
Keep the load close to the body - Always keep the load close to the body and if one side is heavier than the other, that side should be the side close to the body. Lift Smoothly - Keep the lift as smooth as possible remembering to keep the posture correct at all times.
Final Position - Place the object down at the end of the lift and then set its position.
Two or more people lifting together - Two people should not attempt to lift a load of their combined capacity. Together they should only lift 2/3 rds of the capacity. In the case of 3 or more people, they should only attempt to lift 1/2 of their combined capacity.
