Van Ramp Technical Info and Features
Our multi section van ramps have a host of features which have been proved within the Removal and Relocation industry for some 25 years in particular the fold away leg.
We use the same leg design as our standard ramps for that industry which have supported many Grand Piano being loaded. However we can manufacture a leg capable of supporting 5 tonnes in a slightly ammended design.
Features
Ra'alloy aluminum van ramps have proved the market leader over the
past 25 years. Their superb engineering has tried to be copied by
others who have failed. Many companies are still using the same
Ra'alloy Van Ramp they purchased 25 years ago and they still remain in
virtually the same condition as when they purchased them.
Our ramps are particularly designed to withstand substantial misuse,
while at the same time lightweight enough for easy handling yet heavy
enough to not bounce off the van edge when in use.
All Aluminium Construction
Our portable van ramps are manufactured from construction grade
aluminum. Three special aluminium extrusions combine to offer a
lightweight, super strong ramp that is so robust it will cater for the
most rugged handling and conditions. The picture below outlines some
of the features of our van ramps
Anti Slip Floor
Ra`alloy Ramps have an exclusive anti slip
floor that has been proved to remain non slip in most weather
conditions including ice. Our unique floor surface is ribbed, and then
machine serrated so as to give total all round grip. We can also pierce
the floor to aid water displacement.
Side Stringer Details
Our standard duty van ramps have a 7.5 cm side Stringer and the
flooring sits approximately 2.5 cm below the top. This leaves and
up-stand to prevent accidentally wheeling off the ramp. The Side
Stringers are 2.5cm thick on both sides and this should be deducted
from the usable quoted ramp width.
The Side Stringer neck of the van ramp is full thickness where the ramp
sits on the van (see picture ). This has proven adds massive strength
Rest On Top
Our Rest On top offers the ultimate in safety.
Our Side Stringer up-stands continue to the end of the ramp and onto
the van, this is a great safety feature and gives a guide to making
sure that you are wheeling or walking on the ramp, on the van bed
before descending if your vision is obscured when carrying large
packages or when night loading. This also adds great strength and
allows the ramp to be used at any height up to the recommended length.
A Ram Bar below the ramp stops the ramp from moving forward in use
Hook On Top
Our Hook On top requires two 13mm holes drilling into the van bed edge.
The ramp dowels simply lock into the holes. Hook on connection is
restricted to permanent positioning unless multiple location holes are
drilled.
Load Testing
All Van Ramps are manufactured within the envelope of Lloyds British
Load Tested ramps. Lloyds British Load Testing are a respected body in
the UK for leading insurance and associated companies. Our commitment
to Health & Safety made us the first ramp manufacturer to introduce
such stringent testing and our Van Ramps carry a safe working load of
750 kgs
Ultra Low Ground Clearance Machines
Our standard two section ramps are manufactured to suit an approximate 15 degree
incline which is ideal for general equipment that has a ground to underside clearance of 6 cm and above. If your
equipment has a lower ground clearance or has a long front edge to wheel (see Van ramp design considerations here ) please tell us and we will assist your ramp design by pre testing
on our in-house model to make sure that your items do not ground out
while loading.
Vertical Height Usage
Our standard range van ramps are manufactured so that when working at
our maximum working height, the Rest On end is flat on the bed. If you
require the end to sit flat at a lower, or even higher than standard
please talk to one of our advisers or see again see our van ramp design considerations.
