Van Ramp Technical Info and Features
Ra'alloy aluminum van ramps have proved the market leader over the past 25 years. Suitable for use on any van including Strinter and Boxer type vans to the smallest van.
Their superb engineering has tried to be copied by others who have failed.
Many companies are still using the same Ra'alloy Van Ramp they purchased 25 years ago and they still remain in virtually the same condition as when they purchased them.
Our ramps are particularly designed to withstand substantial misuse, while at the same time lightweight enough for easy handling, yet heavy enough to stay in place during use and not bounce of the edge of the vehicle
Companies who claim their ramps to be lighter only means expense or reduced safety implications for the user.
Imported lighter ramps only means less aluminium, this will cause decreased floor strength due to the lack of aluminium and cause the floor to bend after minor use rendering the ramp useless.
One of the major advantages of our Van ramps is the floor which again has been proven to outlast any other.
The picture left shows the results of an under engineered floor of a ramp wich is imported into the UK. (please expand for more information)
LESS ALUMINIUM means LESS STRENGTH
All Aluminium Construction
Our portable van ramps are manufactured from construction grade aluminum. Three special aluminium ex
trusions combine to offer a lightweight, super strong ramp that is so robust it will cater for the most rugged handling and conditions.
The picture right outlines some of the features of our van ramps.

Anti Slip Floor
Ra`alloy Ramps have an exclusive anti slip floor that has been proved to remain non slip in most weather conditions including ice. The floor surface is not only ribbed but also machine serrated so as to give total, all round grip. We can also pierce the floor to aid water displacement should it be required.
Side Stringer Details
Our standard duty van ramps have a 7.5 cm side Stringer and the flooring sits approximately 2.5 cm below the top.
This leaves and up-stand to prevent accidentally wheeling off the ramp.
Side Stringers are 2.5cm thick on both sides and this should be deducted from the usable quoted ramp width.
The neck of the Stringer is full thickness where the ramp sits on the van (see picture ). This adds massive strength over other types of ramps with an angle type section fixed to the front.
Using a welded on angle type section as the ramp to van connection leaves a huge weakness at the critical load point where the ramp meets the van, therefore potentially the angle will break off under load. (Please expand pictures below )
Rest On Top
Our Rest On top offers the ultimate in safety. Side Stringer up-stands continue to the end of the ramp and onto the van, this is a great safety feature and gives a guide to making sure that you are wheeling or walking on the ramp, on the van bed before descending if your vision is obscured when carrying large packages, or when night loading.
A Ram Bar below the ramp stops the ramp from moving forward during in use
Load Testing
All Van Ramps are manufactured within the envelope of Lloyds British Load Tested ramps. Lloyds British Load Testing are a respected body in the UK for leading insurance and associated companies. Our commitment to Health & Safety made us the first ramp manufacturer to introduce such stringent testing and our Van Ramps carry a safe working load of 750 kgs. Our safe working load is always quoted with a divisable factor of 3 to allow margin for error in loading by the user.
Low Ground Clearance Machines or Cases
Our standard ramps are manufactured to suit an approximate 18 degree incline which is great for standard Flight Case type units. If your machine or item to be loaded has a low ground clearance below 6 cm please tell us and we will assist your ramp design by pre testing on our in-house model to make sure that your items do not ground out while loading.
Low Vertical Height Usage
Our standard range van ramps are manufactured so that when working at our maximum working height, the Rest On end is flat on the bed. If you require the end to sit flat at a lower, or even higher than standard please talk to one of our advisers or see our and we will manufacture the ramp to suit.
